Ditto for all of the above for Miz Molly. From here in Texas, her boots will be hard to fill.

I grew up reading Mike Royko in Chicago (and every other part of the country I lived in). When he died, I looked hard for someone to take his place. The only one who came close was Molly Ivins. She was a true warrior and was one of the few columnists who conveyed decibel level into print. This Shrub's for you.

I agree with everything that has been said about Molly. She had such a bold and special spirit and way of expressing herself.

Thanks for your tribute to Molly Ivins. Somedays I feel like I'm reading a piece by Ernie Pyle in the Stars and Stripes in '44-'45 or getting the message from a cartoon by Bill Mauldin.

Such a lovely image....Ann Richards and Molly Ivins reunited. If what the saints profess were to actually be true, I hope there are a variety of celestial locals available 'cause I'd like to find the one they're at! I agree with you that being called a "Utah Molly Ivins" is a high compliment. From my observations thus far, I'd say the shoe fits. Molly's column was carried in our liberal college town paper and her voice will be sorely missed.

Thanks for posting those links to such fine tributes to Molly. I was deeply disappointed by the AP story that's been endlessly repeated in most media. We will miss Molly--and we desperately need voices like hers, always. A while back, I was convinced that the best possible presidential ticket was Anna Quindlen/Molly Ivins, with Molly free as VP to be Molly.

What a loss.

Molly Ivins will truly be missed. Her last visit here was 2004 at Sonoma State where her views on the "Bushies" struck a consonant chord with us libs. Cheney`s afterlife as sitting on a steam vent in Hell also seems right on. Another Texas original is Kinky Friedman..ran for governor & got 565,000 votes. Also has a CW band, the Texas Jewboys & his number one hit "they ain`t makin` Jews like Jesus any more" sold 3m CDs. His best quote; "Politics is the only field in which the more experience you have, the worse you get"...but not in Zion, not with Orrin Hatch.
