It’s Getting Trashy Around Here
Oh great.
That inch-deep acting talent Lindsay Lohan has announced, fresh from her stint in pricey drug rehab at The Cirque Lodge in Sundance, her decision to put down roots in Utah.
The slow pace and wholesome environment here will apparently help Lindsay — who apologizes to her fans, “especially the younger fans” for making some bad choices in the past few years.
No indication in the published stories where she’ll be living. Park City? Too much nose candy temptation. Utah County? Plenty of modest formal gowns to choose from for the next Academy Awards, but with Oxycontin and Prozac, Paxil, Wellbutrin, Xanax and Lexapro (did I leave one out?) flowing freely to obsessive and overtaxed Mormon moms, it’s not exactly a safe haven for your standard spoiled Hollywood drug addict is it?
Maybe she can be a tour guide at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival.
I wish she’d just move on.

With her rehabilitation at Cirque Lodge, she’s certainly gotten familiar with Sundance, so maybe she can set down ‘roots’ there. It is as close as Utah County gets to Park City…

Orem would be a good place for Lindsay to settle, she could move next to Betty Perry, retain Gloria Allred for legal and drive the only MBZ SL65 in town. Form a support group with Paris and Britney.
Anyone see Mitt shine in the latest debate? “I would consult with attorneys before bombing Iran”. There will be retractions galore over that one.

Lindsay Lohan was great in Mean Girls. She just forgot to stop acting that way once the movie was over. Seriously though, I like her. She’s a screw up, sure, but who isn’t every now and then? Alright she’s more of a screw up than others, but I still think we should give her a little compassion. Addiction is very hard to overcome.

You know, I actually liked her in “Mean Girls,” too. I liked that whole movie and its message (but I have to give Tina Fey, the brains behind the script most credit for that).
Point taken, Sra. I’m probably a bit short on compassion lately, truth be told.

Holly, I’m glad you made this comment about “short of compassion” and I’m glad Sra chimed in the way she did. Your first post didn’t resonate with my impression of you.
This young woman is sick. Very sick. She needs tough love flowing from compassion for her. Forget everything about her celebrity and circumstances and focus on a human being who is at a cross roads in her life.
I’m mentoring a woman of the same age who has gotten by meth, heroin, alcohol. She was a foster youth and had no one and nothing and she has gotten her life on track and is enrolled in upper division classes at a local college and is working. She has a darling 2 1/2 year old daughter who she is devoted to.
Bertrand Russell:
Three passions have governed my life:
The longings for love, the search for knowledge,
And unbearable pity for the suffering of [humankind].
Love brings ecstasy and relieves loneliness.
In the union of love I have seen
In a mystic miniature the prefiguring vision
Of the heavens that saints and poets have imagined.
With equal passion I have sought knowledge.
I have wished to understand the hearts of [people].
I have wished to know why the stars shine.
Love and knowledge led upwards to the heavens,
But always pity brought me back to earth;
Cries of pain reverberated in my heart
Of children in famine, of victims tortured
And of old people left helpless.
I long to alleviate the evil, but I cannot,
And I too suffer.
This has been my life; I found it worth living.

Let her stay out of rehab for a while and she will find out that we can be just as screwed up as Hollywood, just with less pretty people.
Frankly after getting bombarded by Lindsay, Paris, Nicole, Britney, etc. 24/7 by the media instead of real news, its not surprise you might come up short on compassion.
Just try to avoid screaming when you hear about any of them next.

I sure as heck can’t find any fun in Utah County. Lindsay is a safe as houses there as they used to say. If that’s what it takes for her, bully for her but I pity that poor girl if that’s what she’s got to resort to in order to stay sober. Personally, it drives me to drink.
